Scotland is rising as a popular option for Chinese buyers seeking homes in the UK, reports the Herald Scotland (7 March 2015). Currently, there are more than 50,000 Scottish properties listed on Juwai.com, and Co-CEO Andrew Taylor foresees Chinese investment to double by 2020, based on its present growth rate. He also shared that education overseas is a big driver for Chinese buyers, who often purchase homes for children to live in while studying overseas. "Chinese purchases are just beginning. What we are seeing now are the early adopters. Only about 4per cent of Chinese even have a passport, compared to about 70per cent of Britons. There is a vast, untapped market of about 1.3 billion Chinese who are still to get a passport, still to make their first trip overseas and still to buy their first overseas investment," says Taylor.
