Sydney's Chinatown is no longer in Haymarket but in the Upper North Shore, writes Juwai.com Head of Australia Gavin Norris on Property Observer (4 December 2016). While Haymarket – still full of tall buildings and Chinese shops – used to be the main Chinatown, the Chinese community in Sydney has gradually moved up towards the Upper North Shore suburbs between Hornsby and Chatswood . According to a Juwai.com Chinese buyer survey, education motivates 44.6 percent of Chinese buyers within the area. Hence, the the schools, quick train conncection to the city, and proximity to ethnic services and retail outlets in Chatswood are driving factors making this area a magnet for Chinese families.
