Chinese buyer interest in Melbourne homes is still going strong despite a decline in foreign buyer applications, reports the Herald Sun (19 June 2018). Although recent findings from the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) revealed a steep fall in the number of foreign buyer applications, latest data from Juwai.com, China's leading international property website, the number of Chinese buyers interested in Melbourne real estate is double the interest in Sydney. According to Juwai.com Chief Executive Officer and Director Carrie Law, Victoria was the most popular Australian state for residential real estate approvals from Chinese buyers, followed by New South Wales (NSW), with the two states accounting for 73 per cent of all approvals.
