Obama signs the EB-5 Regional Center Program extension

By Juwai, 01 October 2012

This past weekend, President Obama moved to renew the EB-5 Regional Centre Program for an additional 3 years.

The EB-5 Programme aims to utilize the capital brought in by foreign investors to help stimulate the economy and create jobs for American workers. Through a minimal investment amount and the creation of at least 10 jobs for US workers, the foreign investor and their family are then qualified to receive green cards for residency in America.

It was voted to be prolonged by the House of Representatives in a large win of 412-3 votes. It is estimated that if continuing on its current path, the program will create at least 42,000 America Jobs and will introduce an inflow of US$2.1 billion into the economy in 2012 alone.

Since it was first introduced the EB-5 Program has become increasingly popular among foreign investors with over 4,200 applicants for the program in this past year alone.
