Malaysian property is fast on the rise with Chinese property investors, reports New Straits Times (23 November 2017). According to Juwai.com Chairman Georg Chmiel, the most popular cities in Malaysia with Chinese buyers are Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Melaka. Chmiel further explains that Chinese investment in Malaysia is mainly driven by the One Belt, One Road Initiative, as well as its infrastructure, education system, and proximity to China. “Malaysia attracts Chinese buyers who appreciate its relatively well-developed infrastructure, the opportunity to obtain quality English-language education and the chance to enjoy a more pleasant lifestyle and environment than in China," he adds, before sharing that Chinese buyer demand for Malaysian homes grew 138% y-o-y in H1 2017, and that demand is expected to continue rising in the next few years.
