A huge wave of Chinese real estate investors took advantage of the Lunar New Year Golden Week to fly over to Melbourne with property purchase in mind, reports the Domain Review (19 February 2015). According to Simon Henry, Co-CEO of Juwai.com, Chinese property buyers tend to conduct in-depth research on their preferred location before flying over, particularly for those keen on emigration, or those with children whom they plan to send abroad for education. "Typically they do all their research while they're still in China, but if they're interested in purchasing property they still like to fly and buy,” says Henry. To leverage on the surge in Chinese New Year travels by rich Chinese, Henry also suggested property agents to display Chinese New Year greetings in Mandarin on their shopfront to attract Chinese buyers, as well to show their cultural competency.
