Chinese property buyers are the top foreign buyers in the US, and the upgrade of the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (QDII2) programme that lifts the limit of Chinese individual overseas investment should widen their lead, reports the Wall Street Journal (18 June 2015). Analysts believe the QDII2 would benefit real estate more than stocks, seeing that channels to buy overseas equities already exist and Chinese prefer to buy brick and mortar. "With QDII2 in mind, within five years we might look back and think of the current levels of Chinese cross-border investment as quaint," said Andrew Taylor, Co-CEO of Juwai.com.
