Chinese property investors looking beyond London to regional cities

Chinese investors are becoming attracted to new build investment properties in the UK's regional cities such as Manchester and Leeds.

Manchester and Leeds offer higher income opportunities than in Central London where price growth has cooled in recent months. These higher yields compared to markets back home are a big draw for Chinese investors.

The Chinese are particularly interested in new developments targeted at young professional tenants. Another draw is also the fact that many Chinese send their children to study at universities within the UK and are looking for further ways to plant roots in the country. 

The weakening pound has also played a contributing role, increasing the buying power of the Chinese yuan when making investments in the UK housing market.
