Australian real estate agents are preparing to welcome more Chinese property buyers during Chinese New Year 2017, reports the Australian Financial Review (23 January 2017). According to a survey by Juwai.com – the leading China real estate international portal – 52 percent of respondents said they have received more enquiries for Australian property from Chinese travellers compared to last year despite tighter restrictions of capital control and scarcer financial support in Australia. The Juwai survey also revealed that half of Chinese buyer respondents who plan to travel abroad also intend to property hunt while holidaying overseas as well. "Overall, a majority of agents expect this year to be a busier holiday season than in 2016. It depends on the type of product they're selling and the location. Generally, we find that the wealthier buyers are more likely to combine property hunting with tourism during Chinese New Year," said Juwai.com CEO Charles Pittar. "It's not always the case, but we often see a strong correlation between the countries they visit as tourists and the countries where they purchase property," adds Pittar.
