Australia is tipped to see an influx of Chinese buyers during Chinese New Year Golden Week, reports New.com.au (27 January 2017). Besides being named as the fifth most popular destination for Chinese tourists for Chinese New Year by China's top travel agency Ctrip, a recent survey by Juwai.com also revealed that Chinese buyers intend to head Down Under during this peak property hunting period. According to Juwai.com CEO Charles Pittar, there is typically a 'spillover from tourism to property' when wealthy Chinese travellers come to Australia — especially in Melbourne. “They love the place, then end up sending their child here to study and buy a home,” said Pittar. The Juwai survey also showed that nearly half of Chinese respondents who intend to travel internationally during Golden Week also plan to engage in property hunting during their trip abroad.
