Demand for Australian property is not slowing down despite tighter financial constraints both in China and in Australia, reports Australian Broker (28 March 2017). According to Chinese international property portal, the main motivation for Chinese overseas real estate buyers is education, and that is why Melbourne is the most popular city for Chinese buyers, as Melbourne is perceived to have better education options. Other motivations include safety, migration, and tourism. “Our view is that it’s full steam ahead. We’re not seeing any slowdown in material transfers in terms of the volume of inquiries coming through Juwai and our platform,” said Gavin Norris, Head of Australia at “They’re all long-term sustainable motivations as to why these guys are buying real estate,” adds Norris.
