Chinese buyers are projected to invest $80 billion into overseas real estate this year, with the US as a top pick, reports RIS Media (16 July 2017). Though slightly less than 2016, is still one of the largest sums ever invested by Chinese. “2016 [was] the first time in history that Chinese buyers acquired more than $100 billion of international real estate. The 2016 total represents a 25.4-percent increase over 2015 and an 845-percent increase over five years," said Sue Jong, COO of Juwai.com. According to Jong, the US is a near-perfect market for property investors from China that saw over $50 billion worth of Chinese real estate investment last year, the greatest share of total mainland Chinese real estate investment.
