Already, the 2018 Year of the Dog has been hailed by property professionals as the 'Year of the Deal' instead, as the number 8 sounds like the Chinese word for 'prosperity' and is considered to be a lucky number, which could potentially influence Chinese buying over the rest of the year. According to Juwai CEO Carrie Law, some Chinese investors had postponed their purchasing property abroad so they could buy in the year 2018 instead. Law further predicts a big upsurge in activity in August, because it will be the eighth month of 2018, which makes it doubly more auspicious in the eyes of some Chinese.
