Juwai Chairman Georg Chmiel sat down with REINSW President Leanne Pilkington about women in the real estate industry, reports Property Observer (18 May 2018). Traditionally, most senior positions in the real estate industry are held by men – a barrier that Pilkington broke in her climb to the top. Pilkington believes that more women should be put into positions of power in the industry, though, as women are more emphathatic and target long-term relationships with property investors. “Women are more focused on the relationship and men on getting the deal done. You shouldn’t close a deal at the expense of the relationship,” said Pilkington. Besides this, two other things that has become Pilkington's driving passion is the chance for real estate agents a chance to evolve into a recognised profession under a professional standards scheme she is helming, as well as creating a concierge real estate experience for both buyers and vendors.
