Rents have fallen in Australia's urban centres as foreign students are locked out of the country due to border closures, reports Daily Star Post (12 November 2020). Only 80 foreign students arrived in Australia during September, showing a 99.8 per cent plunge from the 45,200 international students who arrived during the same month in 2019. Georg Chmiel, executive chairman of Juwai IQI, said border closure due to Coviud-19 pandemic had turned off potential Chinese property investors in Sydney and Melbourne but he expects borders to reopen and students to return once a vaccine is made available.
