Chinese leading buyers of London new homes

Chinese Buy London New Homes

Chinese buyers from Mainland China and Hong Kong accounted for 27% of buyers of new homes in London in the past year.

The largest group of buyers, Chinese favour high-rise, contemporary buildings in waterside locations, according to Savills.

Showing a marked preference for new properties, many Chinese buyers seek prime new homes for their families and children pursuing an education in the UK.

"Far from being 'buy to leave' investors, most overseas buyers in London live and work in the U.K.," Ms. Barnes said in the Savills report.
