International migration is the true cause of rising real estate prices in New Zealand, reports the New Zealand Herald (8 June 2015). While many opine that Chinese buyers are hiking up Kiwi property prices, non-resident Chinese are buying Kiwi homes too, albeit in numbers that are relatively low. According to Co-CEO Andrew Taylor, motivators for global migration include cleaner air, easily procurable good quality food, and better investment opportunities found in New Zealand.
