China is the largest importer of dairy products in the world and this growing demand has fueled speculation that Chinese investors could invest in Tasmania’s dairy industry, reports ABC Rural (11 February 2015). However, Simon Henry, Co-CEO of Juwai notes that "The world is looking towards China as a potential investor in various projects, so Australia is competing with the USA, South America, Europe and Africa for this investment in projects.” Therein lies the contradiction in some Australians’ resistence towards Chinese investors, in a time when investment is needed. "I think it's a learning curve and something that has to be grappled with internally in Australia…” says Henry, “’Do we want investment in Australia?’ If the answer is yes, then where the investment comes from shouldn't be a concern."
