Singapore has again maintained its spot as the most liveable city around the globe. For the 15th year in a row, many, especially East Asian expatriates, would migrate to the city of the Merlions - even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the country's government imposing stricter lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus, the quality of living conditions in Singapore, as presented by the human resource consultancy ECA International remains the same for 2022.

Superior Infrastructure

When Singapore gained its independence, it inherited a superior infrastructure and a well-developed transport network through its many efforts and investments. Singapore consists of a network of 3,122 kilometres of highways, investing in public transport in the form of a mass transit system, and restricting private car usage to reduce air pollution.

By maintaining its status as a transport hub and one of the largest commercial shipping registers in the world, Singapore has one of the world's busiest ports with over 150,000 vessels and container traffic of 15.14 million 20-foot equivalent units.

Low Pollution

To this day, Singapore benefits from better air quality than their neighbouring Asian countries. The country's Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) has been maintained between the 'Good' and 'Moderate' range since 2019.

Through an integrated urban and industrial planning strategy, these measures ensure the air quality maintains a good ranking despite Singapore’s dense urban landscape and large industrial base.

Large Expatriate Communities

Singapore has always been a haven for expatriates to relocate - due to the country's diverse culture, safety, and modern amenities. While it can be expensive, Singapore has proven time and again to have everything that relocators are looking for, hence the thriving expatriates' communities in Singapore.
