As Donald Trump prepares to officially become the next President of the United States, real estate experts ponder how his policies will affect foreign buyers, reports Inman (21 November 2016). Between 2010 and 2015, Chinese buyers spent at least $350 billion on US real estate. If we estimate an average 6% commision on every transaction, that means Chinese investors paid $21 billlion of income to US real estate agents within that period. According to Juwai.com President of the Americas Matthew Moore, a Juwai.com survey revealed that Chinese recognise Trump as a businessman, hence they feel that they can invest in a country he runs. The Juwai survey also showed that 39% of respondents believe Chinese property investment in the US would increase under a Trump Presidency, and that nearly half of respondents think that the increase would be significant.
