Chinese account for over 80% of the EB-5 visa program applications approved since 2011, and now the Kushner family wants to leverage the EB-5 to lure Chinese buyers to their New Jersey skycraper project, reports CNN Money (8 May 2017). The EB-5 visa program allows immigrants to apply for a green card for $500,000 in a project that creates at least ten jobs, and although there is a waiting list of three years for applications, as well as uncertainty surrounding the fate of EB-5 in the future, Chinese interest is not waning in the least. "We have every reason to believe there will continue to be a lot of demand for visas for the U.S. from Chinese investors," said Dave Platter, Global Communications Director at Juwai.com.
