Millennials have become the biggest buyers of new homes and sub-sale property in Malaysia, and the biggest renters in the country, according to an article in Property Hunter (12 March 2020). Citing a report by IQI, the article revealed that millennials are not the biggest-spending group but they are the most numerous buyers. They account for 70 per cent of all new home purchases in 2020. "They are the dominant group in the market – especially in the middle and lower property price ranges. This is not surprising as Malaysia has a relatively young population and labour force. These group of young people have a strong inclination to own a house and they are no longer waiting to get into the property market," said Kashif Ansari, IQI Group CEO.
