According to Juwai IQI, student numbers are expected to exceed their 2019 peak once international borders reopen. Victoria and Melbourne have been particularly hit hard by the loss of international students as a result of international border closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Victoria lost 66,855 international students as of October 25, while NSW lost nearly 80,000. Juwai IQI Group co-founder and executive chairman Georg Chmiel encouraged investors suffering from low or no rental income to "hold on if they can afford to do so".
