While the West may be winding down for the holidays, we're ramping up in China!

That’s because China’s holiday season isn’t quite here yet, and while Christmas is increasingly becoming a popular holiday in China, it's still business as usual for your Chinese buyers until the Chinese New Year week-long holiday kicks off!

This 2015, Chinese New Year – one of two most anticipated Golden Week holidays in China – falls on 19 February.

Traditionally, most Chinese will travel back to their hometowns for family reunions. However, in modern times, more and more wealthy Chinese prefer to make the most out of the week-long holidays to travel abroad instead.

Why should you (and other property agents) care?

Chinese buyers tend to combine holiday travel with property hunting. In other words, wherever they travel is where they will buy.

More importantly, in the months before their departure, these Chinese buyers will conduct intensive research for properties to view during their holiday – that’s right now!

Based on past Golden Week statistics, which saw Juwai smartphone app and mobile site traffic soar by as much as 66% leading up to the holiday, one would have to be crazy to ignore such a golden opportunity.

Shape up for Golden Week

If you’re new to Golden Week, fret not. Here are some tips on how to gear up:

  • Start early: Chinese buyers conduct intense research in the months and weeks preceding Golden Week to decide on a country and city, as well as which properties and agents to see.
  • Update your listings: Make sure your listings are updated to the interest of a Chinese buyer. Is your marketing copy written in a Chinese buyer’s perspective? Have you highlighted nearby amenities? Rethink how your listings appear to a Chinese buyer.
  • Enhance your listings: Without exposure, your listings remain invisible to buyers. Juwai.com offers a plethora of enhancement products to help highlight your listings.
  • Increase your online marketing: Needless to say, the period right before Golden Week is crucial. Escalating your online marketing leading up to the holiday is vital. Get in front of this audience before they decide on their desired destination and properties.
